This fall will be my fifth full season here and we have made many strides in the right direction. We have had a lot of support and I’m proud of the work that we’ve done so far. We are coming off our second straight 5-5 campaign. Back to back years of 5 wins or better hasn’t happened at Muskingum since 1995-96. We dominated Capital 37-7 in front of a capacity crowd of 2900 at the HBWC. We also had an exciting double overtime 41-35 win home win over Otterbein. The Muskies have now beaten Otterbein 4 out of the last 5 games, which hasn’t happened since the mid 1990’s. We beat Ohio Northern 23-7 for the second straight year, which hasn’t happened since 1988-89. The Muskies continued its dominance over Wilmington, beating them for the 13th consecutive time.

Our QB Jordan Garrett broke many more of his own records. Jordan is now the All-time leader in passing yardage (5,753 yards) and single season touchdown passes (21). His go-to receiver Senior Zuri Edmonson also had a big year breaking the most receptions record in a season with 57 and had 852 receiving yards (3rd All-time). These two connected on a school record 90 yard touchdown at Baldwin Wallace this past season. Both were first team All-OAC. Junior linebacker Austin Willforth was 2nd in the OAC in total tackles and named 2nd team All-OAC. Senior WR/Kick Returner Ja’Lin Goodman was 2nd team All-OAC and had an 85 KOR for a TD against Heidelberg for the first time by a Muskie since 2013.

I’m proud to say that our culture has gotten better and our team has gotten stronger every year. We have a Leadership council that meets with me every week to discuss many different topics and to improve their leadership. The council is made up of 3-4 players from each class that is voted on by their teammates. Our academics have steadily improved each semester. We created a 3.0 GPA wall in our locker room where our players get their picture up on the wall if they achieve a 3.0. This is a great point of pride for our team and this past semester we had the most 3.0 GPA guys we’ve ever had for a 2nd semester in my time here.
